Inquiry to co-host event with the National Council for Voluntary Organisations.

On 17 July 2007, the Inquiry will co-host an event with the NCVO to explore the implications of what the future might hold for civil society in the UK and Ireland. The event will draw upon the findings of phase 1 of the Inquiry, which will analyse the key driving forces that are likely to shape civil society in the future and will be complemented by plausible scenarios to illustrate the possible future nature and role of civil society. On behalf of the group of funders, the Creative Philanthropy Programme ran a series of consultation workshops across the UK to discuss the focus and form of the proposed national research centre on giving and philanthropy. An edited summary of key points raised is now available to download.

The Carnegie UK Trust is actively seeking public participation in its Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society.

The Inquiry Commission is keen to hear your views about future threats and opportunities for Civil Society in the UK and Ireland. We also welcome contributions that reflect on the European and global dimensions of civil society, especially in so far as they relate to the UK and Ireland.

The Carnegie UK Trust's Rural Community Development programme is delighted to announce the publication of three recently commissioned reports which focus on asset based approaches to rural community development, and the value of community co-production. 

The reports have been written by:

• Governance International
• Forum for the Future
• International Association for Community Development

Findings from each of these reports will inform the recommendations of the Commission and feed into the work of the Rural Action Research Programme.

The Carnegie Young People Initiative is delighted to announce that Patricia Lewsley, the newly appointed Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People, will participate in our Belfast seminar.  The seminar on the Future for Children and Young People's Participation will be held on February 2nd.

This invitation only event will explore policies and measures for the greater involvement of children and young people in decision making. 

Workshops will take place around the four jurisdictions of the UK , following the recent announcement that the Trust in partnership with the Office of the Third Sector, the Scottish Executive and the ESRC, is to set up the UK's first Research Centre for Charitable Giving and Philanthropy.

We are delighted to announce that Carol Madison Graham has been appointed a trustee of the Carnegie UK Trust. Changes have also been made to the composition of our sub-committees.

The Carnegie UK Trust in partnership with the UK Government, the Scottish Executive and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) is to establish the UK’s first centre of excellence for research into charitable giving and philanthropy.
