Carnegie UK Trust was established in 1913 and is one of the UK’s leading independent foundations.
We are a not for profit foundation; one of over twenty foundations worldwide set up in the early twentieth century by Andrew Carnegie, the Scots-American philanthropist.
We are not a reactive grant giving trust. Our primary interest lies in supporting investigations into major issues which are impacting upon the lives of people.
- We do this through establishing Commissions of Inquiry and supporting practical action research, intended to inform and change public policy and opinion.
Our work focuses upon Britain and Ireland, however we also engage in European and international partnerships and address global issues that impact upon Britain and Ireland. We are keen to work in collaboration with other foundations and organisations that share the same aims and objectives.
